Suffering after Awakening

In this post, I’ll discuss suffering after awakening. How much does an awakened person suffer and how a person deals with it.

In normal daily life, we do not think so much about our lives, but rather feel and experience everything as it arises. In awakening, we have seen that there is no longer any personal suffering; however, it appears that collective pain nonetheless continues to flow through us.

Once you’re awakened, you get easily affected. What I mean by that is the other person’s suffering easily affects you. For example, if your awakening is very deep, if somebody is physically hit, those marks could appear on your body, or you could even experience the pain. So what happens is you lose your thought shield, and once you lose your thought shield, you are tuning into everybody’s consciousness. So the collective suffering does affect you, that’s why you would sometimes find awakened people weeping. They’re not weeping over any personal suffering.

There could be a bombing somewhere, and as people are dying there, this person here, thousands of miles away, could be found weeping. Therefore, that way the collective karma of pain does affect the awakened. In fact, it affects them more than the unawakened.

Staying with what is!

When you are awakened, a certain change happens in the brain, this can be scientifically verified whereby you could stay with “the what is” without effort. You can stay with your negative emotions and charges but you do not identify yourself with them. It is essential to put in the effort and try to stay with “the what is” until it automatically becomes without effort. This will open the door to the Divine to come into your life.

The pain will still come and the best thing you can do is reminding yourself that it shall pass. One should be ready to deal with suffering. One thing Sri Bhagavan recommends is to start working on your relationships, especially that of your parents and that would pave the way for the Divine to come into your life. That’s weird, right?

I remember in one of the darshans Kumar Ji said:” You must overstand the relationship between the Divine intelligence and your parents. The moment your relationship is set with your parents, the Divine is somehow triggered to come closer to you! And the opposite shall be true. Whenever you have issues with your parents, the Divine deviates and gets away from you! Set your relationship with your parents and the Divine shall come into your life.”

This teaching itself helped me a lot to overcome the bad stuff I’d held towards my parents for years. This understanding allowed me to be in my parents’ shoes and that they are who they are and I had to forgive them. Little by little I began to talk and listen to what they say without any judgment. They simply came to this planet, grow up in an environment that somehow shadowed who they really are, uploaded to them its stuff and this way they reflected their ideologies on me expecting me to be like someone they thought of God knows who? LOL and that surely led to tremendous suffering. I was in a stage that I wouldn’t forgive them. I had never thought of thinking and looking through a different window like they are who they are, they had what they had and they passed it to me.

My Mom & Dad a photograph taken in 1978. I love you because you made me who I am today.

I never thought that when I blamed them for my circumstances was me playing the victim. What would you do if parents aren’t aware of causing their son “me” pain without being aware of the consequences? Well, nothing. Instead, just forgive them, work on your suffering and grow up. There’s nothing else you can do. And guess this understanding itself is when things shift in your life, you become responsible for your pain, you upgrade from a victim mentality to an expansive one then you realize that this is called living life.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I look forward to hearing your comments, suggestions, and questions. Love Ya’ all…
